“Trevor pushed his brother out of the way of a moving vehicle”
Arriving by medical helicopter, 13-year-old Trevor was admitted to the Emergency Room at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital as a trauma patient. Trevor had fractured his femur bone, the strongest bone in the body, after pushing his 2-year-old brother out of the way of a moving vehicle; Trevor was hit in his brother’s place. He courageously put his brother’s safety and well-being before his own.
Shortly after arriving at the hospital, he immediately underwent surgery to clean his wound and set the bone back in place. He remained in the PICU for further observation and medical management. Trevor later underwent several other invasive procedures and surgeries to help his condition. His recovery also included physical therapy that was quite painful for him.
“In spite of difficult circumstances, Trevor has maintained a positive attitude and diligently worked towards his healing and recovery,” writes his nominator. “His acts of heroism, courage and bravery are the reasons we are nominating him.”
KWN agrees that Trevor is a TRUE HERO and deserves this recognition!
“Trevor was very happy to receive the Hero of the Month award,” writes his dad. “Thank you so much. It has helped in his recovery.”
