“Even though he was very weak, Saber would still greet you with a smile”
Saber was admitted to Mercy Medical Center suffering from influenza A and B, along with respiratory syncytial virus; all three illnesses are caused by viruses that make you very ill with cough, stomach aches, fevers, and being unable to rest. Usually, patients will only suffer from one of these viruses, but 3-year-old Saber had all three!
Saber couldn’t eat or drink for several days and he was short of breath. His fevers were so bad, they made him shake. Breathing was very difficult for Saber and it was extremely hard for him to get the rest his body needed.
“Even though he was very weak, Saber would still greet you with a smile,” writes his nominating nurse.
Saber required lots of IV fluids, medications, and breathing treatments to help him overcome these illnesses. With the help of staff, and his encouraging smile, Saber finally recovered. Everyone at the hospital loved Saber’s bright personality!
KWN is exited to honor Saber along with Mercy Medical Center as a Hero of the Month!
