“We view Monserrat’s efforts as heroic!”
Admitted to White Memorial Medical Center for appendicitis, 9-year-old Monserrat underwent surgery to remove the organ. Her time at the facility was spent bravely battling to recovery and communicating openly and honestly with her Child Life team.
Her Child Life Specialist writes, “Monserrat shared her fears and concerns with staff, openly. She often helped her mother with translation of after-surgery care and plans. She took charge of her health care plan, sharing that even thought she did not want to walk around the unit, she did so anyways because she knew it would help her recovery. WE view Monserrat’s efforts as heroic!”
KWN certainly views Monserrat as a Hero and so does the staff at White Memorial Medical Center!
