Frozen Fun for Brooklyn

“Her favorite was when she met the ‘Frozen’ sisters”

Adrenal Insufficiency or Addisons disease is a rare hormone disorder that affects about one in 100,000 people, and 12-year-old Brooklyn is one of them. The lack of cortisol in Brooklyn’s body requires her to take medication for her thyroid and for hormone growth. Having exactly the right amount of cortisol is a delicate balance that is vital to Brooklyn’s well-being. No health concerns could hold her back though from having the time of her life on a magical trip to the Sunshine State.20150811_121614_resized

Brooklyn enjoyed all that the Florida theme parks have to offer. She had an absolute blast visiting SeaWorld, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom. The thrills continued as she and her family got to see a performance by the Blue Man Group who presented Brooklyn and her sister with a set of their drumsticks. Her appreciation for music continued throughout her tour of Madame Tussauds where her most treasured moment was taking a selfie with the wax figurine of none other than Taylor Swift.

Brooklyn’s love of all things “Frozen” was incorporated into almost every aspect of her trip by the generous sponsors of her wish. The staff of Texas Roadhouse wore “Frozen” t-shirts in her honor, and the friendly folks over at Chevy’s Fresh Mex gifted her with a “Frozen” themed blanket. For dessert, Jilly Cakes made Brooklyn a custom cake worthy of Olaf himself!

Emeril’s went as far as taking her back into the kitchen on a private tour where they personally showed her the culinary artistry involved in preparing a fabulous feast. “The meal was incredible and everyone was so nice,” remembers Brooklyn’s mom Amanda.

While Wonderworks and Ripley’s Believe it or Not were also highlights of her stay, nothing beats the moment when Brooklyn got the chance to meet her favorite Disney princesses, Anna and Elsa. The Frozen fanatic was positively star-struck.

Happy and fun-loving Brooklyn is currently doing well in dealing with her life-long illness.
