“Christian hasn’t smiled this much in a long time”
In May 2009, Wish Kid Christian collapsed in the road and doctors discovered that his brain was hemorrhaging as a result of a vascular tumor. Surgeons performed emergency surgery which included a partially craniotomy and removal of the right side and ride temporal lobe of Christian’s brain. After the grueling surgery, Christian started physical, occupational, and speech therapies. It has been an extremely long road, but Christian is slowly progressing and regaining the skills he lost.
Christian was officially diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and now suffers from epilepsy and Cushing Syndrome, which occurs when the body is exposed to high levels of corticosteroid medications. While this injury has affected Christian’s cognitive levels and emotional state, he does his best to find joy in life.
The teen likes listening to rap and rock music and really enjoys playing video and computer games. Kids Wish Network was excited to grant Christian’s wish for a new gaming computer so he can play all the time. After receiving his ASUS gaming laptop, Christian and his family enjoyed a fun-filled night at The Lazy Pirate Island Sports Grill.
“I haven’t seen him smile this much in a long time,” recalls his mom.
