“Cameron remains positive”
One winter day, Cameron’s life changed forever. The car she was riding in slid on an icy road and hit another truck in a head-on collision. Cameron was rushed to Kosair Children’s Hospital where she underwent multiple procedures to save her life.
After the accident, surgeon’s needed to close a hole in the lining of her brain and had to piece her skull and facial bones back together with titanium plates. Cameron was initially in the ICU on a breathing machine before becoming strong enough to leave the intensive care unit. Within four days, this 12-year-old Hero was eating on her own and passing time on her Ipad.
Once released, Cameron will require physical and speech therapies three times a week but is looking forward to getting back to her life. Despite all her struggles, Cameron remains upbeat and positive and calmly follows all of her nurses’ instructions.
KWN knows that Cameron will continue to stay positive and represent a true Hero of the Month!
