“Amber has a big fighting spirit”
Amber was just a baby when she sustained severe burns on 70% of her body. Despite being a tiny gal when she first came to Shriners Hospitals for Children- Cincinnati, she has a big fighting spirit. Now 11 years old, Amber has grown up with an appearance molded by the fire. She’s endured many surgeries and doctor visits, suffered through hours and hours of therapies, and yet, she goes on with that fighting spirit, exploring her interests as if there is nothing there to stop her!
Amber has prosthetic legs and often use a wheelchair, but still took dance classes because it’s what she loves. She wears hearing aids and is a music lover; these days, Amber is playing the drums and recently took a camping and hiking trip with her class.
“We see a hero in Amber because of that spirit in her which gives her the eyes to see opportunities where others see obstacles,” said her nominating Child Life Team.
Just like her nominating hospital, KWN sees Amber as a true Hero of the Month!
