“Kids Wish Network does real work for real families”

Cameron was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells, after suffering from upper back pain and discovering a lump. She immediately started chemotherapy treatment and underwent seven rounds and two bone marrow transplants, but still faced issues.

In June 2010, Cameron’s body rejected her second bone marrow transplant, and she was diagnosed with chronic scleradormatous. This disorder causes a buildup of collagen between the muscle and skin which restricts movement. New treatment for both her cancer and scleradormatous caused a reduction in blood flow to her bones making them crumble. Cameron then needed a total knee replacement.

In December 2014, Cameron started experiencing pain in her chest and shortness of breath. Doctors discovered a blood clot in her right atrium. The first attempt to treat the clot was unsuccessful, and Cameron underwent surgery for its removal later that month. Cameron continues to have issues with her conditions. She takes several medications including blood thinners, pain medication, anti-nausea treatment and antibiotics.

Despite her struggles, Cameron is a caring and resilient teen who loves to spend time with her family and friends. Her biggest wish is for a tropical beach vacation, and KWN couldn’t wait to make it come true.

Kids Wish Network sent Cameron and her family on an unforgettable wish trip to the Florida Keys that included tours of the historic area, a boat cruise, dolphin sighting, kayaking, snorkeling, and more. The entire island helped out to make Cameron’s wish trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“I think to come down with her and to see the joy on her face for this week that we’re together, how do you put words to that?” adds her dad. “Kids Wish Network does real work for real families; it really is a blessing.”

Cameron was even interviewed by the local paper and starred in a segment for “Good Morning Florida Keys”.

Kids Wish Network would like to thank all the incredible sponsors that made Cameron’s trip so spectacular:
• Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel
• Gourmet Nibbles & Basket
• Conch Train Tour
• Sunset Water Sports

• Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium

Cameron is doing well with her illness but is still recovering from her knee replacement. She recently completed her first year of college.
