Timmy is a fun-loving and playful 5-year-old boy recovering from a life-altering medical struggle at Franciscan Hospital for Children. Timmy suffers from transverse myelitis, a rare inflammatory disease that causes injury to the spinal cord. He strives to work hard in his physical and occupation therapy sessions each day though some goals have been difficult to achieve. Timmy accomplished a huge goal when he had his NG tube removed and was able to, once again, start eating by mouth. He is relearning daily tasks such as dressing himself and has begun walking again with support.
“Timmy makes great progress each day as he recovers,” said his nominating Child Life Specialist Kristen.
KWN is proud to honor Timmy as a Hero of the Month for his continued bravery and hard work!
