Chris scores a goal with NYC FC

“Meeting the soccer players was the best part”

Wish Kid Chris was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 6 years old. It took doctors five days to regulate Chris’s blood sugar levels with life-saving insulin. Shortly after his diagnosis, doctors tried installing an insulin pump, but Chris kept developing painful infections at the pump site, so doctors switched him back to multiple daily injections.

Though Chris must takes breaks during physical activity for rest or insulin shots, he loves to play soccer. He’d always wanted to see a “real” soccer game, so KWN was excited to grant his wish to see a professional soccer game in NYC.

KWN planned a once-in-a-lifetime New York City experience for Chris, including a private tour of the Statue of Liberty, an exclusive tour on NYC’s newest trend, THE RIDE, and VIP seats at an NYC FC soccer game.

“I really had a lot of fun,” said Chris. “Meeting the soccer players was the best part.”

Chris and his family had a blast on his wish trip. KWN would like to thank all the generous GA sponsors that helped make his dream come true:
• NYC FC soccer team
• The Roosevelt Hotel
• US Limousine Service
• Statue of Liberty- Park Services
• Hard Rock Café
• Tavern on the Green
• Ellen’s Stardust Diner
• John’s Pizza Times Square

Chris will continue to need insulin injections for the rest of his life, but will battle his life-threatening illness with bravery.
