“Our day was full of happiness”
The day after Wish Kid Breyley was born, a nurse discovered his oxygen level was at only 45 percent, an extremely below average number. After multiple hospitals and tests, Breyley was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries and a ventricular septal defect, both life-threatening heart complications that affected the oxygen flow throughout his body. Breyley had his first heart surgery at just two days old. He recovered in the NICU for seven days until he was strong enough for open heart surgery.
While the initial surgeries were successful, Breyley has been hospitalized since for severe cases of pneumonia caused by asthma. He also has a concaved chest as a result of his surgeries that must be monitored closely. The 16-year-old may need another heart surgery in the future to replace a heart valve and has been told to not participate in contact sports.
In spite of these hardships, Breyley always has a smile on his face. He loves to play League of Legends on the computer with his friends and is considering designing computers one day. KWN knew that an upgrade to his computer gaming system would make Breyley the happiest kid in the world.
With the help of the local Wal-Mart, Kids Wish Network granted Breyley’s wish for a new Alienware gaming system complete with dual monitors and everything else he wanted. After a short presentation at the store, Breyley was able to pick out his ideal system before heading to dinner at the local Texas Roadhouse.
“Our day has been full of happiness,” recalls his mom. “It is a gratifying experience for parents who have kids go through things like Breyley has gone through. It was a very wonderful experience.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank Wal-Mart and Texas Roadhouse in Janesville for making this day a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Breyley.
