CYPRESS, Texas: For 7-year-old Emileigh Marsh of Cypress, TX, seeing horses at Disneyland was the best experience of her life so far. Emileigh suffers from a few life-threatening illnesses and uses horses as part of her therapy; so when children’s charity Kids Wish Network granted her wish to visit Disneyland, Emileigh was overjoyed to see horses there too.
Born premature, Emileigh was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and remained in the NICU for three months. The little girl suffers from congenital spastic diplegia which manifests as an especially high and constant “stiffness” in her joints. She also has severe seizures and asthma attacks that have landed her in the hospital numerous times since birth. Emileigh requires a wheelchair for long distances, uses ankle foot orthosis to help her walk, and suffers from memory loss.
Despite her daily battles, Emileigh is a confident and compassionate child that loves to help others. Kids Wish Network was excited to help Emileigh and grant her wish to visit magical Disneyland in sunny California. The charity sent Emileigh and the Marsh family on an all-expense paid wish trip to visit the California theme parks where they stayed at fabulous accommodations, dined at local restaurants and enjoyed the California sunshine.
Emileigh loved her airplane ride, visiting Long Beach, helping drive the Aqua Taxi, discovering horses at Disneyland, and meeting the Disney Princesses. The Marsh family spent what felt like an entire day searching for two very important Princesses: Anna and Elsa from “Frozen”.
“We sat down on a bench, looked around, and saw snow,” recalls Kelly Marsh, Emileigh’s mom. “Emileigh walked into the area and came out yelling ‘I found them! I found them!’. She was so shocked to finally see Anna and Elsa; she was speechless. Everything about the trip just warmed our heart.”
Kids Wish Network and Emileigh would like to thank all the sponsors who helped make this little girl’s wish come true: Ayres Hotel Anaheim, P.F. Chang’s, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Compassion Partners Program, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Chili’s.
Emileigh is currently in good condition after her wish trip; she takes daily medication to help control her seizures but faces every day with positivity.
