Shriners – Cincinnati, May 2014
When Nicole was just an infant, she was involved in a house fire and sustained a large burn injury. She was first treated at an outside hospital close to her home in Kansas and was then transferred to Shriners Hospital for Children- Cincinnati. The 16-year-old has been coming to Shriners- Cincinnati for several years for follow-up care, including several skin surgeries. As Nicole was just an infant when she first sustained her injures, she doesn’t recall the event or the pain associated with her burns. However, as Nicole grew older, she has suffered through numerous skin surgeries and knows firsthand the pain that goes along with it.
Nicole is a very strong young lady who does not let anything stop her. She had learned to drive and plays musical instruments as she grows older. We believe she is truly a Hero.
