“The WWE wrestlers are a big source of inspiration for Stephen”
Stephen’s medical issues started when he took his first breath. The tiny little boy was born premature and had a stroke immediately after birth. As a result, the 11-year-old has suffered his whole life with cerebal palsy, a seizure disorder and other side effects like developmental delays and hydrocephalus.
The determined young boy works hard in his speech and physical therapy classes but always bears braces for safety. Stephen takes three different medications a day to prevent seizures from attacking his body and uses a feeding tube to ingest extra supplements and medication as a safety measure.
While Stephen loves playing sports, his physical limitations prevent him from doing everything he wants. He enjoys golfing and plays on a “Buddy Baseball” team, a recreational league that pairs special needs children with a “Buddy” to help them play.
Despite all he struggles through, Stephen wakes up every day with a smile on his face. One thing that continues to raise his self-esteem and keep him motivated is watching WWE, especially Sheamus, John Cena, and Big Show. Four years ago, Stephen would watch the show in secret, tuning in after his parents went to bed. Now, the WWE and its famous wrestlers are the main source of inspiration for Stephen.
When Stephen got to meet one of the WWE Superstars at his Orlando wish event, he was all smiles. Stephen and his family got to spend some quality time with wrestler Big Show before watching a WWE match.
Stephen has recently faced some setbacks in his health. His seizures are becoming more frequent and doctors are conducting more extensive tests. Check back for more updates.
