FORT LAUDERDALE, FL: As a child, finding comfort in a hospital setting can be a frightening situation. This is a reality for many kids across the United States, and more specifically, for the hundreds of pediatric patients served by Chris Evert Children’s Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL. But thanks to children’s charity Kids Wish Network and generous partners, these kids can take a small comfort in a new joy.
At a recent event, Kids Wish Network, along with board member Andrew Gottlieb and Jennifer Schaefer of Create A Princess in Houston, TX, recently donated and hand-delivered over $40,000 worth of new toys, games, and comforting essentials as part of the charity’s Holiday of Hope Gift Bank program. The program, along with the On Tour Event program, benefits kids dealing with illness, abuse, neglect, or homelessness by providing items that offer a welcome distraction from upsetting and often traumatic experiences.
“The wonderful donation brightens the spirits of our pediatric population and helps to reduce the isolation associated with long-term illness,” says Child Life Coordinator Ann Nancy Fogel. “These gifts provide support, compassion and the opportunity to learn and have fun for all of our children. Thank you does not seem adequate.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank its generous sponsors who make this Gift Bank, and hundreds of others across the United States, possible through caring donations: Stephan Baby, Winning Move, Clash of Arms, Suns Out, Atlas Games, K & T Toys, Noodle Head, Birdcage Press, Joobli Studio, Safari LTD, Fairy Tales Hair Care, Just Play, Enchanting Gnome Knowledge, Kid Designs, We R Fun, Plan Toys, American Art Clay, Ideopolis, Poofin, The Wish Factory, Luv Ur Locker, Kid Station Toys, and Revell.
