KENNESAW, GA – Landing in the emergency room due to extreme lethargy and uncontrollable vomiting, 4 year-old Kelvis was diagnosed with a life threatening condition, Type 1 diabetes. As a result Kids Wish Network granted Kelvis his ultimate wish to visit Stone Mountain Park.
At the age of two Kelvis became exceedingly lethargic, drinking lots of water and vomiting. Eventually this landed him in the emergency room and the ICU for 10 days. Since then Kelvis has had multiple trips to the hospital and struggles with maintaining healthy blood sugars as he grows. To help Kelvis in his daily struggle to stay well, his service dog Blue, is being trained to detect his blood sugar highs and lows.
When we asked Kelvis about his wish he repeatedly exclaimed “I want to go on a train! I’m so excited!” After hearing this, Kids Wish Network staff knew exactly what to do; give him a special trip to Stone Mountain Park.
“At Kids Wish Network we understand that the most memorable moments are those you never anticipate and making a difference in the lives of children struggling with life threatening illnesses is what drives us each and every day to grow and expand our programs.” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director, Anna Lanzatella.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for making Kelvis’ wish so spectacular: Stone Mountain Inn, The Original Pancake House, Stone Mountain Park, Outback Steakhouse and the Georgia Aquarium.
