Shriners Hospital – Cincinnati, December 2013
When Caitlyn was 10 years old, she sustained a burn injury from a house fire. Caitlyn’s burns covered 40% of her total body surface, including her face, arms and legs. To achieve wound coverage, Caitlyn needed to have skin excision and grafting done on these areas of her body. She then had to endure twice-daily therapy sessions to maintain good range of motion for her new skin.
Not only was all of this physically painful, but it also took an emotional toll for Caitlyn. As her skin heals, Caitlyn continues to help herself grow and develop into a smart young lady by attending burn-survivor camps and conferences.
The staff at Shriner’s Hospital Cincinnati have seen Caitlyn work very hard physically and emotionally while always keeping a smile on her face. She acts like a true HERO.
Caitlyn wrote us a nice thank you letter, too!
