“Mynia loved visiting Disneyland and going down the water slides”
Mynia is a happy and eager 8-year-old who loves Disney’s “Princess and the Frog,” and cannot believe she finally got to meet Princess Tiana when her wish to Disneyland was granted by Kids Wish Network.
Mynia was born with a degenerative disease commonly referred to as spinal muscular atrophy a genetic disorder that affects the control of muscle movement. Caused by a loss of specialized nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain, this disorder weakens and wastes muscles needed for everyday movement.
As a result of her life-threatening condition, Mynia can’t run or walk up steps and have very limited walking capabilities. She uses a stroller to help get her around most of the time and has particular trouble using her hands to complete tasks that require fine motor skills. In addition to her physical limitations, Mynia has great trouble with her breathing.
Despite her dire circumstances, Mynia is a positive young lady that excels in academics and can usually be found smiling. She was constantly smiling on her wish to Disneyland where she stayed at amazing accommodations, dined at exciting restaurants, and spent her days exploring all the parks have to offer. She especially loved all the water slides.
Mynia continues to remain positive as she battles her life-threatening condition.
