“I haven’t seen Stacy smile this much in such a long time.”
As a part of Kids Wish Networks commitment of infusing hope, creating happy memories and improving the quality of life for children having experienced life-altering situations, Kids Wish Network sent Stacy on an all-expenses paid cruise. Kids Wish Network arranged for Stacy and her family to experience a 4 day vacation onboard a Carnival cruise traveling for from Jacksonville to the Bahamas. During the cruise, Stacy and her family were treated like royalty, enjoying multiple on board adventures including the Atlantis Deep Water Dolphin Swim.
At the age of eleven, Stacy began experiencing severe fatigue and abdominal discomfort. After months of prolonged agony and countless tests, Stacy’s doctors diagnosed her with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and later Mitochondrial Disease, for which there is no cure. Mitochondrial diseases result from failures of the mitochondria and are responsible for creating more than 90% of the energy needed by the body to sustain life and support growth. When the mitochondria fail, less and less energy is generated within the cell and all systems begin to fail.
“Stacy had the time of her life! The whole family had an absolute blast. I haven’t seen Stacy smile this much in such a long time, I can’t thank Kids Wish Network enough” said Stacy’s mother, Carol.
In fact, Stacy was so excited for her wish experience that to show her special appreciation she baked a delicious batch of brownies for the entire staff at KWN. Everyone at Kids Wish enjoyed them greatly and was truly touched by Stacy’s gesture of appreciation.
