NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – International children’s charity Kids Wish Network announced today that Michigan teen Reagan Peavey’s dream of meeting her favorite band, McFly, has come true. Thanks to McFly and generous sponsors, Reagan traveled to New York City to meet the members of McFly and attend their concert. Kids Wish Network is an international charitable organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children having experienced life-altering situations.
“Every day, we work to ensure that children facing life-altering experiences are given the opportunity to smile a little brighter. With help from generous donors and groups like McFly, we are working to make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of children every year,” said Anna Lanzatella, Executive Director of the Kids Wish Network.
Before she turned two, Reagan was diagnosed with having cystic fibrosis, a genetic condition that leads to serious digestive complications and life-threatening lung infections, such as pneumonia. Complications of this disease have also led to Reagan becoming diabetic. She deals with her conditions constantly, using a percussion vest, following a strict medication regimen, and administering daily insulin injections.
Now 14, Reagan was given the chance to have a wish granted through Kids Wish Network; she asked to meet her favorite band, McFly.
Kids Wish Network arranged for an all expenses paid trip to New York for Reagan and her grandparents that included accommodations, attractions and meals, as well as a meet-and-greet with McFly and tickets to their concert at the Gramercy Theater.
“We felt like millionaires,” said Reagan’s grandmother, Debra Sterling. “Everybody bent over backwards for us and treated Reagan like royalty.”
On the day of her wish, Reagan and her family visited Saks Fifth Avenue, where Reagan was treated to a complete makeover, followed by a trip to Abercrombie & Fitch for a new outfit to wear for the concert. Afterwards, they were whisked by limousine to the Gramercy Theater and escorted backstage to meet McFly. After they presented her with a t-shirt, autographs and pictures, Reagan and her family was escorted to the VIP section for the concert.
“They made Reagan feel so special. Every one of the sponsors did a wonderful job,” said Reagan’s grandfather, John. “Thanks to everybody for everything they did for her.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for making Reagan’s all expenses paid trip and wish so spectacular: McFly, Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Metro Airport, U.S. Limo Service, The Roosevelt Hotel, Fresco by Scotto, Guggenheim, New York Water Taxi, Hard Rock Café, Madame Tussauds NY, Saks Fifth Avenue, Abercrombie & Fitch and the American Museum of Natural History.
