After she turned a year old, Treva started to experience severe seizures. She was hospitalized and on life support in the ICU for five days and diagnosed with epilepsy. At the age of six, Treva was diagnosed with Chiari malformation, a condition that causes structural defects in the cerebellum. Two years later, a routine MRI showed severe fluid buildup in the brain and Treva was rushed into surgery. She lost so much blood during surgery that she needed a blood transfusion. A month later she came down with meningitis and was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, which is a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. This fluid was not draining properly and Treva endured a second surgery to implant a shunt. A third surgery was performed last year during which a catheter was inserted in her spinal column. Treva is currently on several different medications and her condition requires monthly check-ups.
For her wish, Treva wanted to visit the theme parks in Orlando, Florida, and that’s just what she did. She loves animals, so she visited SeaWorld and Disney’s Animal Kingdom and she had a blast! Treva’s favorite experience was watching the Shamu show over and over again and seeing the baby dolphins and sharks at SeaWorld. She loved every second of her wish and dreams of the day she can go again.
