Aiden is a determined three year old who likes to play with her dolls and look at picture books. She also enjoys drawing and watching “Dora the Explorer” on TV. Aiden’s favorite food is pizza and she likes to color and draw. Her favorite songs are “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and “You Are My Sunshine.”
When Aiden was born, she was not breathing and her tiny heart had stopped. For ten minutes, doctors worked on her before her heart began to beat and she started breathing. Because of those ten minutes without oxygen flowing to her brain, Aiden suffered something called hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, which is damage to the cells of the central nervous system, particularly the brain and the spinal cord. In addition, this caused Aiden to have cerebral palsy – a group of disorders that impair brain function – and the seizure disorder epilepsy. According to countless MRI scans, Aiden has lost the functionality of 80% of her brain and, according to doctors, the damage will only continue to progress. Aiden has had too many surgeries to count and, though she is learning new things, she will continue to lose the ability to do things she could previously do. Right now, Aiden is undergoing intensive food therapy because she can no longer eat on her own and must be fed via feeding tube.
For her wish, Aiden got to meet all her favorite Disney princesses at their kingdom in Walt Disney World! She was able to ride rides, see shows, and truly experience the magic of Disney…she loved every second of it!
