Connor was born with a heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy. This is a condition in which the heart is enlarged and severely weakened, which causes it to lose its ability to pump blood effectively. In fact, the heart Connor was born with only pumped 3% of his blood. For the next two years, three times every month, Connor was treated with extreme medications to prep him for a heart transplant, which he endured at the age of two. Connor will have to take anti-rejection medications for the rest of his life, but, unfortunately, those medications are already causing kidney failure. Connor’s new heart is also already weakening and he must endure another transplant within 10 years.
Connor absolutely loved his wish to visit the theme parks in Orlando, Florida. He got to visit every one of the four Walt Disney World parks, as well as Universal Studios and the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Theater. Although he enjoyed every experience he had, Connor’s favorites were riding the Star Tours ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios; meeting his favorite “Cat in the Hat” characters at Universal Studios; watching all of the fireworks shows; going to the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Theater; and riding “The Simpsons” ride at Universal! What a lot of new experiences! We’re glad you had a great time, Connor!
