When he was 3-years-old, Gage was diagnosed with having Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a rapidly progressive degenerative muscle disorder. Due to this disorder, Gage was never able to run and he is now unable to walk without assistance. During the day, he uses a wheelchair for mobility and at night, he uses leg braces. Duchenne has also affected the muscles Gage uses in coughing and he requires assistance from a machine to help him breathe and cough up mucus that builds up in his lungs.
Gage had a blast visiting Disneyland and LEGOland in California. He got to experience all sorts of fun, but his favorite part was meeting a master LEGO builder and making a LEGO version of himself to leave permanently in LEGOland’s “Miniland, USA” area!
