Angus was born with a nonfunctioning liver due to a condition called biliary atresia. This occurs when the bile duct connecting the liver to the gallbladder is missing or blocked. When he was 7-months-old, Angus endured a liver transplant surgery, for which his father donated part of his own liver. Angus also had drains implanted in his stomach to help drain fluid buildup until he was 4-years-old. Unfortunately, the initial transplant surgery left Angus’ intestines rather twisted and full of scar tissue and he had to have an emergency surgery to fix; he will probably have to endure another surgery later on in the future. For now, Angus’ condition is monitored through blood work and he follows a strict daily medication regimen.
Angus had an absolutely wonderful time during his wish to visit the theme parks in Florida. Angus and his family visited every park he wanted to, including Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens and Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Angus was able to experience all sorts of amazing new things, including hand-feeding dolphins at Sea World, but his favorite experience happened during the live show at the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Theater: “Angus was just thrilled to get to go on the pirate ship!” said Angus’ mother. “He’s telling everyone he meets all about it!”
