Jarvis’ Super Shopping Day with Nico Johnson of the Alabama Crimson Tide!

Name: Jarvis
Age: 6
State: AL

Wish Kid

Just last year, Jarvis was diagnosed with having a Wilms’ tumor on his kidney. This type of kidney tumor is cancerous and Jarvis was sent into surgery, where they removed the tumor along with his whole left kidney. Jarvis’ doctors also started him on chemotherapy treatments, and his cancer went into remission. Unfortunately, in February, the cancer returned and has now spread to his lungs. Jarvis is currently enduring even more chemo treatments.

For his wish, Jarvis asked only to have a shopping spree at Wal-Mart. However, to make his day even more special, the assistant manager at the Wal-Mart near his home arranged to have Nico Johnson, Jarvis’s favorite player from his favorite football team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, meet him at his house before the spree!

“He was so excited,” said Jarvis’s mother. “They pulled up to the door with a big diesel Alabama truck and several police cars to take him [to Wal-Mart]. He didn’t know before and he just kept saying, ‘Oh my gosh, Momma! Alabama! Alabama!’ He was just so excited and then Nico [Johnson] came over and they just started talking and having fun…they were like old friends! He even carried him [Jarvis] on his back!”

As if the day couldn’t get any better for little Jarvis, he arrived at Wal-Mart where he was greeted with a gift basket full of Alabama gear and an Alabama football cake with Jarvis’s name on it! He was in awe.

As for shopping, Jarvis had a ball shopping with his “personal shopper” from Wal-Mart and he went home with a new flat screen TV, a bike, an Xbox 360 game system, a handheld PSP game system and games for each.

Jarvis loved every single second of his wish, but if you ask him what his favorite part of the day was, he’ll reply that is was meeting Nico Johnson.

When asked if her son had a good time, Jarvis’s mother replied, “Boy, is he enjoying it. I mean, he was spoiled a bit anyway and this wish just put him over the edge! I know he is never going to forget it. Thank you.”
