BALLWIN, Mo. – A little girl suffering from a life-threatening illness had her wish granted to meet the cast of her favorite Nickelodeon show iCarly.
Amber is 9-years-old and has a condition known as Marfan syndrome. This is an illness that affects the connective tissue in the body and causes issues for various body systems including the heart, eyes, bones, joints and lungs. Amber needs to wear braces and must use a wheelchair when walking long distances. She has had various surgeries, including heart surgery and procedures to have rods implanted in her back.
A friend of the family referred Amber to national children’s charity Kids Wish Network. The family filled out an application and was soon making plans with Amber’s wish coordinator for her one wish: she wanted to meet the cast of iCarly.
“So many times she is down because of the discomfort of her back brace or the lingering surgeries or watching others do things she can’t,” said Amber’s mother, Laura.
Amber, along with her parents and older brother, were flown out to Los Angeles where they spent time on the show’s set. Amber was able to meet the cast and take pictures with her favorite characters.
“This trip and the meeting of the iCarly cast made her feel special gave her an opportunity to get away from the everyday issues she deals with,” said Laura. “I’ve said before, and I must say again, how appreciative we are for the efforts put into making this wish a reality for her.”
Aside from meeting that cast, Kids Wish Network arranged for luxurious arrangements, spending money, dinners, attractions and tickets to Universal Studios. Everything was set up so Amber would have a special and memorable time in California.
“Amber has had fun telling her friends and family about her trip. It is definitely something she will remember for a long time and something that truly took her mind off of her medical situation,” Laura said.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for making Amber’s wish such a special experience:
The Blatteis Family, Chipolte Mexican Grill, ALS Limousines, StarLine Tours, Universal Studios Hollywood, Avalon Hotel, The Cheesecake Factory of Beverly Hills, Nickelodeon and iCarly
