When I began working on Jonathan’s wish, he had never been able to ride a bike, so we set out to change that!! Jonathan lives in Colorado and was born with Cerebral Palsy. His condition has left him with a weakened left side which makes riding standard bikes nearly impossible.
I was looking online for a suitable option for Jonathan when I came across the AMBUCS website, which says that they are a “non-profit service organization consisting of a diverse group of men and women who are dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.” I decided to give them a call and I was soon put in touch with Bob Richards who referred me to the Mile High AMBUCS chapter near Jonathan’s home. We made arrangements for Jonathan and his mom to go out to an Amtryke course to test out a bike and see if it would work for him. When they met with Ed Quayle, the Ambility Program Coordinator for AMBUCS, he surprised them by awarding Jonathan with his own bike that very day!! Congratulations, Jonathan on your newfound mobility!!
