Alexia is a 4-year-old who sustained burns to over 50% of her body, after being involved in a house fire. She receives daily dressings and intensive physical and occupational therapy which can be very painful. She has undergone twelve surgeries thus far for skin grafts and contracture releases and will require many more surgeries throughout her lifetime to maintain normal function. Alexia still has a long road to recovery ahead of her before she is able to leave the hospital. Her Child Life Specialist has been truly amazed by this brave little girl’s courage, determination, spirit and inspiration.
