Lloyd is a sixteen year old patient who recently was diagnosed with Dandy Walker syndrome. This syndrome causes cyst to develop on the brain and which leads to severe headaches and dizziness.
Lloyd came to our facility to have the cyst evaluated and eventually removed. In addition to his syndrome he is also deaf which brought challenges to most aspects of his care, especially educating him about having brain surgery. Lloyd’s mother helped by signing for him and in the end he was able to express his understanding about the whole process. Lloyd recovered well from his surgery and still has his infectious smile; he is truly a hero in our eyes.
