Kendale suffered a skull fracture which resulted in a brain bleed. A craniotomy was performed to remove the internal blood clots and repair the bruising. He was transferred to the PICU immediately after his surgery. He was very stoic and didn’t want to let the nurses know he was afraid and scared. He had a great attitude the whole time he was here. Later in the day, after he got to know some of the staff a little better, he expresses his fears over his “brain drain” and his head injury in general. He was fearful but very receptive to learning about his experience. Though Kendale experienced a traumatic brain injury, he was polite and cooperative with the staff. It was a privilege to care for him and his family.
