Evelyn is a seven year old with new onset diabetes. Evelyn spent four days in the hospital to learn how to control her diabetes. She had increases in her blood sugar to the 500 range while the doctors were trying to learn how to best treat her condition. Evelyn was very brave and actively cooperated with therapy. She followed the directions of the nursing staff and did not whine or complain about blood glucose checks. Evelyn stayed busy working on craft activities, playing games, and watching movies. Evelyn’s mother and grandfather were very involved in her care and took the opportunity to learn as much about how to best help her as possible. Evelyn will do well managing her diabetes.
