Ben is a six year old who loves sports, especially soccer. He currently has been in the hospital for over a week due to atypical HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome). This has led him to several issues with his kidney function and has led him to need acute treatments such as kidney dialysis and plasmapheresis. Throughout his stay here, Ben had had to receive several IVs and get blood work done, has had surgery to place a central line and has had to endure lengthy treatments daily. Throughout all of this Ben has displayed a positive attitude and has been a real trooper.
