Diamond was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of staring, lethargy and “just not acting right.” She was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and then found out after a 24 hour EEG that the doctor wanted to put in a VP shunt until the next surgery could take place to correct the malformation. Her father states he was just not sure about the extra surgery and wanted to wait on another opinion, but his very brave, positive thinking 9 year old daughter told him she wasn’t afraid and just wanted to feel better. Diamond is a positive, pleasant young girl who is always busy and helpful. She misses helping take care of her younger sister, and an infant brother, who she likes to hold. Diamond told me she misses school and her friends. I’m guessing she has a lot of friends from the amount of get well cards she enjoyed showing me. Diamond does have another surgery ahead of her and her Father says he is sure she will be a trooper for that as well!
