Young girl granted wish through Kids Wish Network

FINDLAY, Ohio – Like many 7-year-old little girls, Brianna loves playing with Barbie dolls and watching Dora the Explorer on TV. But unlike most little girls, Brianna suffers from congenital heart disease.

Brianna was diagnosed with this life-threatening condition the day she was born. To date, she has had numerous surgeries – her first when she was just 1-week-old – including four heart catheterizations. More surgeries lie ahead for Brianna.

Although Brianna deals with her illness on a daily basis and will continue to do so, she recently had the chance to forget about her illness and spend some time at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. This was made possible by national children’s charity Kids Wish Network.

Kids Wish Network’s mission is to infuse hope, create happy memories and improve the quality of life for children. Through their wish granting program and various other children’s programs, Kids Wish Network has put a smile on the faces of over 73,000 children just this year.

Brianna’s father, Michael, said he initially heard about Kids Wish Network through his mailman who has a nephew who had a wish granted through Kids Wish Network. He said that his family had a great time on the wish trip.

“It was wonderful. Everything that we needed was there. Everything was greatly appreciated. Without the help of Kids Wish Network it would have never been possible,” he said.

The family was able to stay at the beautiful Royal Plaza Hotel in Orlando and various dining arrangements were set up for them by Kids Wish Network and a few outstanding local sponsors. Michael said Brianna had an awesome time and was excited to be on her wish trip.

“I would just like to that Kids Wish Network and all the businesses that helped us out through the process. Without the businesses that gave us dinner and the hotel we would have never been able to do this,” he said.

Though her wish trip is over, Michael said it has left an impact on Brianna.

“It’s been a week and she is still talking about it,” he said. “Her wish definitely came true.”

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Brianna’s wish extra special: Clyde-Findlay Area Credit Union, IBEW Local 8, Findlay Fraternal Order of Police #20, Findlay Civitan Club, Embassy Suites Detroit Metro Airport, Royal Plaza, Compassion Partners, Wonderworks, Pirates Dinner Adventure, Florida Mall Ale House and Houlihans
