Maxine is an eight year old girl who in January 2010 sustained 2nd and 3rrd degree flame burns to her right leg. In a three week time span, Maxine has undergone two debridement surgeries and one split thickness skin graft surgery. Maxine has had to have painful dressing changes done weekly, during which she never sheds a tear or complains of pain. Maxine has a full leg cast and has had to learn to maneuver in a wheelchair and walker to get around her house. When Maxine comes to burn clinic each week, she is always in great spirits, smiling, laughing and playing with staff. Maxine is a beautiful, strong and fun-loving eight year old that has gone through a traumatic incident that will be physically and emotionally scarring for life. She is an amazing little girl who is truly a Hero!
