Facility: Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Leremy was first admitted to the hospital 10 years ago following a severe car accident. At age 6, this accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. After spending months recovering and on our rehab unit, he was finally discharged. Since that time, Leremy has returned to the hospital for appointments, illness and surgery. Because he spends so much time in a wheelchair, Leremy sometimes develops abscesses requiring surgery to rermove. Each admission typically last about 6 weeks. Throughout his visits, Leremy remains optimistic and cheerful. He is always happy to talk with staff and takes every opportunity to engage with others. We see many children and families become upset with much shorter and less frequent visits but Leremy doesn’t respond that way. He had made a choice to b e positive despite his situation in which most would turn to anger. For these reasons and many more, he is our Hero!
