Jim is an 11 year old boy with arthrogryposis, originally from the Dominican Republic, who now resides in the states with his parents. He has been through multiple surgeries over many years to increase his independence. Jim first came to the hospital as a quiet, nervous boy who only spoke Spanish. Today he is enrolled in public school, speaks English and translates for his parents. He can independently move around his wheelchair, is able to dress himself with assistive devices, feeds himself and loves to play video games. We take these things for granted and Jim has proven he can be a happy, talkative and inspirational boy given the odds that were against him.
Today Jim is a joyful young boy with an infectious smile and a world of possibilities awaiting him…he is our hero!
