Anthony entered into care of the state and Emergency Shelter Care Program about 6 months ago. His history included: extremely defiant behavior, truancy, delinquent behavior (i.e. burglary), using & selling illegal substances, and coping with a family history of addiction. Since he has been admitted to the program he has participated in the Independent Living Program which promotes healthy living while teaching independence and preparing him for the transition to adulthood. While steadfastly attending classes four days a week to obtain his GED, he also participates in an internship/mentoring program where he is learning an array of job skills. He allows others to guide him through tough times and is eager to learn from them. Overall, Anthony has come a very long way. Though he is not proud of some of his past actions, he now basks in his improved, healthy lifestyle and encourages his peers to display positive behavior. We are proud that Anthony is on his way to becoming a great and valuable citizen to the community.
