Will is a 6 y/o boy who fell off the slide at camp and fractured his right arm. He went to the orthopedist’s office and had his arm splinted. Shortly after that (around 1 hour post casting), parents noticed that his fingers became numb and tingled. At this point. Will was brought to our emergency department. Will was experiencing unusual discomfort and was very brave while the cast was opened to ease the pain and swelling. He was very clear while communicating his feelings to us which helped us provide optimal care. He was admitted to the children’s hospital to be observed.
