Stuart is an eleven-year-old boy that has been hospitalized for almost one month. He was involved in an off-road vehicle accident resulting in multiple tibia fractures and has undergone several surgeries and has had skin grafts taken from his back and thigh to repair the damage on his leg. His leg is now being held together with an external fixator, which will be in place for the next several months. Throughout this entire process, Stuart has remained very positive. Although he has been bound to his bed during most of his hospitalization, Stuart has remained hopeful and determined. He is always seen with a smile on his face and enjoys interacting with the staff. Stuart has been undergoing physical therapy and is now able to get around in a wheelchair. He will eventually transition home with the help of the external fixator, wheelchair and walker. Though he still has many weeks of therapy and additional surgeries to go, Stuart is a true HERO and deserves recognition for his hard work and positive attitude!
