Facility:Riley Hospital for Children
Luke was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in August of 2006. Crohn’s disease is a chronic disorder that causes inflammation of the digestive tract. Symptoms of Crohn’s disease include diarrhea, cramping, fevers, and loss of appetite. Often times it takes many tests to diagnose Crohn’s disease which may mean hospitalizations, missed school, and time away from family and friends. Luke will have Crohn’s disease the rest of his life and will most likely require surgery and always take medications to keep the disease under control. Luke has attended our music group, special events, and activity times while in the hospital. We would like to nominate Luke as Hero of the Month for his bravery and positive attitude in coping with this life long disease.
