Gregg and his three siblings arrived at the Emergency Shelter from last year, in order to escape the violent situation at home. In addition to his difficult home life, was born with the disadvantage of being blind. Although this is a huge struggle, especially for a child, he never indicates any weakness. He is always carrying on with a positive attitude, great behavior and good sense of humor. One of his favorite things to do is quiz his friends and staff about his favorite singer, Michael Jackson! Often times, in residential programs, there are struggles that come along with community living and the discrepancies that people have with different lifestyles. Gregg’s presence makes people set their differences aside and focus on the positive things in life. Everyone comes together and is always willing to lend Gregg and his family a helping hand. It is amazing to see how the program has accepted and taken to him; and subsequently, the staff and residents have learned a great deal from this wonderful eleven-year old boy!
