Brady is a heroic 11 year old boy who was involved in a motor vehicle accident on December 7, 2009. He was the middle passenger in a truck along with his father and grandfather. All three were critically injured in the accident and were transported to Omaha hospitals. Brady sustained multiple pelvic, rib, and mandible fractures, had a lung contusion/collapsed lung, spleen and eye lacerations, and chipped teeth. Brady did not remember the accident and initially was not aware how dad and grandpa were. Brady’s father died from his injuries at another hospital but Brady was able to be discharged from our hospital in order to go see dad one last time to say goodbye. Needless to say, the holidays were a tough time for this family. Due to Brady’s injuries and multiple fractures, he had many follow up appointments with orthopedics, physical therapy, and other physicians, but Brady continues to work hard towards a full recovery. Brady continues to persevere through all of this-even after the greatest loss-the death of his father. Throughout it all, he had amazing support from many family members and friends, who showered him with love and their faith to get him and themselves through this difficult time. Brady deserved a much needed positive from this experience and is very deserving of the HERO award.
