At the age of two, Zach was diagnosed with ataxia telangiectasia, which is a rare neurodegenerative disease. Because of this, Zach is confined to a motorized wheelchair for moving long distances and must use a special walker for short distances at home. He is having trouble with the muscles in his eyes, is easily fatigued and has experienced difficulties with his immune system.
While visiting Florida’s myriad of theme parks, Zach enjoyed feeding and petting the dolphins at Sea World and riding all of the exciting rides at the Disney Resort. Of course, with his love of thrills, Zach’s favorite ride was definitely the Big Thunder Mountain rollercoaster. Since he’s been home, all he’s talked about was his trip to Florida and all the fun he had there.
