Winston has what is known as Marfan’s Syndrome. Marfan’s is a skeletal disease that affects the body’s connective tissue. In patients with this disease, their connective tissue is defective. Because this tissue is found all throughout the body, many of the body’s systems are affected and damaged, including the skeleton, eyes, heart and blood vessels, nervous system and lungs. Winston struggles daily with his condition and experiences a great deal of heart problems. He is unable to engage in any physical activities and will need a heart transplant in the next several years.
