Marshall’s story is one of kindness triumphing over tragedy. When Marshall was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive brain tumor, his mother contacted Kids Wish Network to see if they could do one thing for her son: restore his 1992 Dodge Dakota.
Marshall’s wish coordinator, Vanessa, made that happen, as well as much more. For a whole day, the town of Walden, New York came together to celebrate a day dedicated to Marshall, which included the presentation of the key to the city to Marshall, a parade of classic cars and—last but not least—Marshall’s truck, completely transformed inside and out! Marshall was ecstatic.
Sadly, Marshall succumbed to his cancer, but his memory continued on through kindness in his small town. In Marshall’s honor, the people of Walden showed their generosity as the Moose Lodge in this small community raised $2,400 to give to Marshall’s family.
In the wake of her son’s death, however, Marshall’s mother, Melinda, made an extraordinary decision. Rather than keeping the money or putting it toward medical bills, Melinda chose to pass this gift on to Kids Wish Network so that other children suffering from cancer could see their wishes granted like Marshall had. In her remarkable courage and kindness as well as in the wishes her donation will enable, Marshall’s spirit will live on.
