In 2008, when checking a lump on Lindsey’s neck, a surgeon diagnosed her with stage three Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a cancer that originates in the white blood cells and attacks both lymph nodes. In Lindsey’s case, the cancer was found in her neck, chest and abdomen. Though radiation therapy is used to treat Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Lindsey’s doctors were unable to use it on her because the cancer had spread too far. Instead, Lindsey had to endure chemotherapy. However, she suffered such a severe reaction to the chemotherapy that a port had to be installed in order for the 12 cycles of the treatment to continue.
Lindsey enjoyed her stay in Florida. It was a fantastic opportunity to have some fun and spend quality time with her family. Some of the highlights for her were visiting SeaWorld, Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center.
