Eli was born without eyes and, at the age of two, was diagnosed with Fraser Syndrome. This is a disease that affects different systems of the body with various developmental defects. In addition to not having eyes, Eli has a displaced kidney and a cleft in his vocal cords. He is unable to feed himself, talk or see, and is confined to a wheelchair. Since his diagnosis, he has endured several surgeries.
What Eli wanted most in this world was the chance to meet the author of his favorite books, Jonathan London. When he first heard Mr. London speak to him, Eli lit up and began smiling and babbling. They acted like the best of friends and spent the entire day playing and reading together in San Francisco. Mr. London read two of Eli’s favorite stories to him and is even giving Eli the books in the series that he is missing. It was Eli’s dream come true.
