When he was born, Nicholas was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which is a neurological affliction that affects the body’s movement and muscle control. In addition, Nicholas was diagnosed with the seizure disorder epilepsy and has hydrocephalus, also called “water on the brain.” Because of the hydrocephalus, he has had a shunt placed within his skull to drain the excess fluid that builds up in his brain. His cerebral palsy has forced Nicholas to be confined to a wheelchair and he must wear braces on his back, feet and hands. In August of 2006, Nicholas had a feeding tube installed to supplement his nutritional intake.
Nicholas had a truly magical time in Orlando! He visited all of the theme parks and met every one of his favorite characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and Tinker Bell! He even got to enjoy some time at the beach while he was in Florida. Nick truly had a “magical” time!
